Joomla Live Installation On Web Server

As for general guide, a basic in website management for joomla based website is the installation of joomla on your live server. This tutorial will guide you on the principal knowledge on the installation of joomla which can be applied to previous and later version of JOOMLA 1.5.xx.

Joomla Installation on live server doesn’t vary much compared to if you installed you joomla on localhost environment. Luckily, installation on live server seems to be easier to be done and will take less than 5 minutes to finish.

1. cPanel access
   • Login to your cPanel and look for the smiley Fantastico installer. Click on the installer icon and you’ll have loads of scripts option for you to install. For the purpose of this Joomla tutorial, let’s just ignore the other scripts.
2. Installation
   • Choose JOOMLA 1.5 by clicking on the link. You’ll then be directed to main Joomla 1.5 installation page. Click on New Installation to proceed with a fresh installation of your Joomla website.
   
3. The installation form is quite self-explain and most new comer in JOOMLA CMS would find that the installation form is user-friendly. However some explanations need to be addressed here:
   
   
   • Install on domain. This will refer to which domain name you would like to install you joomla website. If you have more than one domain name, choose the drop-down selection to select where you want to install your website.  Please be advised that if you want to install on sub domain (http://www.subdomain.xxx.com where xxx.com is your domain name), you will need to create the sub domain first in your cPanel.
   • Don’t forget to tick the select box on Install Sample Data. Your website will be dumped with preconfigured setting and content so that you can learn and edit them for your own references later on.
   • Click on Install Joonla 1.5 button to proceed.
   • A confirmation page will prompt you to click on Finish Installation to initiate the installation. Click on the button to start your joomla installation.
   
4. Now you are at the final stage. There’s no more installation but you will need to provide your email to which the installation details will be sent for your reference. Fill in the box and click on the Send E-mail button to finish installation.

Now, you can access you website at http://www.yourdomainname.com. The link to joomla administration/ back-end access is http://www.yourdomainname.com/administrator.

If you install in your sub domain name, the the web access would be http://www.subdomainname.yourdomainname.com. the link to subdomain back-end access would be http://www.subdomainname.yourdomainname.com/administrator
