Update Virtuemart Shipping Rate and Carrier

This publication or tutorial is intended to assist you on how to populate your virtuemart shipping rate and carrier by updating your database. The benefit of using this method is that you can save time and precious man-hours in contrast of manual update through your JOOMLA  Virtuemart back-end. The method use cPanel access to your phpMyadmin and replacing existing virtuemart information inside your database. In order to use this method, you should at least:

1. Have direct access to you cPanel/Helm or other web hosting control panel which may allowed you to edit your own database;
2. Have the required SQL files that contain the information to update the database;
3. Backup all your servers' content including your database;
4. Know what this tutorial is all about and what you are doing.

The Virtuemart SQL files

1. This tutorial is used to explain how to update database in order to populate virtuemart shipping rate and carrier. For the sake of your website security, please do make backup and don't use SQL file not supplied through us. You can also buy the original file based on your need at Virtuemart Shipping SQL will also need to have the required files in our download section.
2. Up to now, we assume that you already have the required files to update your database. Now, we need to get into our web hosting control panel.

cPanel access to phpMyadmin.

1. Now, access your cPnael and go straight to your phpMyadmin. Then, select the database that corespond to you JOOMLA CMS. To know which database used by your JOOMLA, simple go to Site > Global Configuration > Server > Database Setting > Database.
2. Once you are inside your database, scroll down until you find the targetted table called jos_vm_shipping rate.  Click on the words, not the small box on the left. If you wan to populate shipping carrier, looked for jos_vm_carrier.
   
3. Then you will be directed to a different page. Go to the right-side panel and looked at the tabs at the top. Click on Import tab.Import tab is used to update the database using external file that you have.
4. Go to the center of the page and Browse to the location of your SQL file, leave other setting intact. Once you have select the file, click on Go button to proceed the update process. The process will take less than a minute.
5. As you have seen here, updating multiple Virtuemart data only take few minutes to complete compared to manual update through JOOMLA back-end at Components > Virtuemart.
